Abstract | Here we present raw temperatures from Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) located at a depth of 28m off Aliwal Shoal (30.2643°S 30.828°E), along the east coast of South Africa, between 26 May 2014 and 06 February 2016. Note that the data that falls outside of these dates is not from the deployment. At selected sites around Southern Africa, UTRs have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperature in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 2m to 34m. Note that for some deployments, two UTRs were deployed to simultaneously record bottom temperatures. |
Methods | The raw data was collected using an Underwater Temperature Recorder (UTR) that was configured to sample every 60 minutes. The subsurface-mounted UTR was deployed at a depth of 28m off Aliwal Shoal (30.2643°S; 30.828°E), along the east coast of South Africa. The instrument(s) measured hourly temperature(s) readings between 26 May 2014 and 06 February 2016. |
