Abstract Here we present processed half-hourly subsurface temperatures from Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) located at a depth of 1.2m off Feyens Jetty, Port St. Johns, South Africa (-31.5947°S 29.5287°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa, between 20 March 2012 and 27 August 2012. At selected sites around Southern Africa, UTRs have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperatures in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 1m to 34m. Note that for some deployments, two UTRs were deployed to simultaneously record bottom temperatures.
Methods Subsurface-mounted, Underwater Temperature Recorder(s) (UTR) were deployed at a depth of 1.2m off Feyens Jetty, Port St. Johns, South Africa (-31.5947°S; 29.5287°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa. The instrument(s) measured half-hourly temperature(s) readings between 20 March 2012 09h00 and 27 August 2012 23h30.
