Abstract This dataset contains sea surface velocity measurements from six High-Frequency (HF) radar stations located along the South African coast, between Mossel Bay in the Western Cape and Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. The HYDDOA v.2 framework is used to process the data, producing high-resolution, quality-controlled velocity fields that are appropriate for research and operational oceanography. The end date of the dataset is dynamic and subject to frequent updates since new data is constantly being retrieved.
Methods HF radar data has been produced since 2018, starting with 3 stations which were upgraded to 6 stations in 2021.
