Abstract The Anchovy Recruitment Survey on the Africana Voyage 112 was conducted from 18 May 1993 to June 05 1993. The main objectives of the cruise were to estimate the abundance and size-structure of anchovy and pilchard recruits; to describe the distribution and anchovy and pilchard recruits and the influence of oceanographic variables on these. To collect biological data on pelagic fish species and to examine the distribution, abundance and production of plankton in relation to the environment and to recruit distribution and condition.
