Abstract At selected sites around Southern Africa, Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperature in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 2m to 34m. Here we present raw temperatures from UTRs located at a depth of 7m off Knysna (34.0763°S 23.0602°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa, between 03 July 1995 and 24 October 1995. Note that for some deployments, two UTRs were deployed to simultaneously record bottom temperatures, and that the data that falls outside of these dates is not from the deployment.
Methods The raw data was collected using an Underwater Temperature Recorder (UTR) that was configured to sample every 60 minutes. A subsurface-mounted, Underwater Temperature Recorder (UTR) was deployed at a depth of 7m off Knysna (34.0763°S; 23.0602°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa. The instrument(s) measured hourly temperature(s) readings between 03 July 1995 and 24 October 1995. The UTR deployed during D0002 (Serial number 5546) did not record temperatures higher than 23.0 °C due to a sensor limitation.
