SACOFS-West Hindcast coastal ocean model dataset of temperature, salinity and currents for False Bay, Table Bay and St Helena Bay from 1993 to 2019
The South African Coastal Ocean Forecast System West (SACOFS) is run using the Coastal and Regional Ocean COmmunity (CROCO) modelling system. The SACOFS-West model domain encompasses St. Helena Bay, Table Bay and False Bay, located on the west coast of South Africa (14.50° to 20.00° E and -36.09° to -29.13° S). The model curvilinear grid has a variable horizontal grid resolution (0.35 – 4 km) which increases toward the coast. The model has 30 terrain-following vertical levels. The output is...

Raw underway Thermosalinograph (TSG) observations from the Algoa Voyage 269, October 2020
A SeaBird SBE45 Thermosalinograph (TSG) is used to opportunistically collect underway near-surface temperature and conductivity measurements during research and monitoring cruises. Water is continuously pumped to the TSG from an intake located in the hull of the vessel, and the observations are continuously interfaced with navigational information. A temperature sensor close to the intake provides temperature measurements of the incoming water (T1). The temperature of the water inside the...
